Collages Week Four: An Exciting Announcement After the End

All good things must come to an end.

Laughter, memories, books, chocolate: there comes a time when you must step back into reality, put the pages down, stop munching and brush away the crumbs. So it was with Collages. I’ve been meaning to thank people for a while, but I never really got round to it. Guess that goes to show how much I care: too deeply to actually be able to form into words or summarise an entire experience that I’ve known and felt.

Look, we made a beautiful thing.

Spiktinot appreciates art, literature and beautiful people. And this project had all three. It was more perfect than Goddesses because it had illustrations; it was more personal than Melodies because it had poetry; it was more beautiful than The Doodle Project because it combined the two in unexpected ways. We met new people who participated by creating and new people who participated by liking and commenting and sharing on Facebook. It was bigger, it was grander, it was everything Spiktinot is meant to be.

And we now have to reach new heights.

Every week I get messages from people looking to participate in the way Spiktinot works. This has been true for more than a year. However, before this, I never quite had the opportunity to collaborate with observers. I wasn’t ready and I don’t think the blog was either.

But now, with our tiny corner of the internet becoming an ever-increasing platform for creators to speak, this is about to change.

For the first time, this blog is open to all contributors.

Poetry, art, stories, opinion pieces: send them in! If your work fits in with the tone of the blog, every Monday, a new creator will be featured on the Facebook page.

Once upon a time, I used to call readers of this blog ‘unicorns’. Not sure I want to keep that up, but I feel like some sort of a rallying cry is needed here, so here goes: come on, Unicorns! Let’s create some beautiful things together.

Message Spiktinot on Facebook for features. Guidelines for submissions will be up on the page by this weekend, so keep an eye out.

In the meantime, here’s the fourth and final week of Collages for you.
